Taloha! (Hi). Ea mai koe (How are you)? Dot TK is Dividing Domains Differently.
The domain code is from Tokelau Islands. One of Dot TK's primary objectives
is to continue to build its user base of individuals and small businesses interested in Tokelau, its customs, its culture and its
beauty. The goal of the Tokelau Internet Project is to provide the communications
and educational technologies needed on the island. Faka Fetai (thank you) for
visiting our site!
Dot TK can have a big social impact on the lives of the people in Tokelau.
The primary goal for both Teletok and Taloha, the dot TK registry operator,
is to increase the awareness of Tokelau in the world, establishing relationships
with larger
corporations
who can provide communication, education and medical expertise to the region
and directly funding the island of Tokelau with royalty fees paid over domain
names sold. This way the government of Tokelau can grow towards a more financial
independent situation.

What is the .TK global country specific domain (ccTLD)? What does DOT-TK stand for?
Every country has, according to the International Standard Organization a

Where is Tokelau?
Tokelau consists of three large atolls 480 km north of Western Samoa (Tokelau
means 'north' in the Polynesian language). The central atoll, Nukunonu, is
92 km from Atafu and 64 km from Fakaofo. It's far far away, about 37 hours
by boat from Apia, West
Samoa. This is the only way to get there. It is approximately the same time
you need for four trips between NYC and Amsterdam by plane, or if you prefer
a more active form of traveling through Europe like cycling, you could get
from Belgium to Spain and back in about the same time. You can find more about
the island including maps and pictures if you click here.
As with many countries of the world, Tokelau is proud of its fertile history and timeless beauty. Life on Tokelau is filled with peace and tranquility. In many ways, it is a simple life. However, because of its isolation and lack of industry, it is also a very poor nation. If it is to ever become self-sufficient, Tokelau needs advanced communications, education and medical care. It is the primary goal of Dot TK and the Tokelau Internet Project to bring these advances to Tokelau.

How soon can I start using my domain name?
After purchasing a .TK domain or making changes to the registration information, the data is submitted to the official .TK registry maintained by Taloha Inc., a privately held company, in conjunction with the Government of Tokelau and it's communication company Teletok. Once the registry has been updated, the information in their database is shared with the Internet's zone files worldwide. This sharing process is called "propagation," because
the new information about your domain spreads or propagates across the Internet. The zone files are propagated frequently, every day of the year. We cannot
control the rate at which the millions of name servers on the Internet are updated, but generally your domain should be available to Internet users within
a very short period (usually 24 to 72 hrs).

What are the .TK dispute-resolution policies?
Like a lot of other country code top level domain registries, Dot TK follows the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (often referred to as the "UDRP"). Under the policy, most types of trademark-based domain-name disputes must be resolved by agreement, court action, or arbitration before Dot TK will cancel, suspend, or transfer a domain name. Disputes alleged to arise from abusive registrations of domain names (for example, cybersquatting) may be addressed by expedited administrative proceedings that the holder of trademark rights initiates by filing a complaint with an approved dispute-resolution service provider. To invoke the policy, a trademark owner should either (a) file a complaint in a court of proper jurisdiction against the domain-name holder or (b) in cases of abusive registration submit a complaint to an approved dispute-resolution service provider. For more information, check out the TK policy page.
